The participants were Coms. Subramanian, Dev Raj, Raghuwinder Singh, Amarjit Singh Sodhi, Subhash Lamba, R. Kumar, Jiban Aich, Shanti Debnath, Mridul Krishna Saha, Siddhartha Sengupta, S. Dev Roye, V. Mohan Das, Kanchan Mukherjee, K. Pavithran, K.R. Unnithan and  B.S. Meel.

Com. E. Balanandan presided over the meeting.

Com. E.B. said that as the report of IIPA is to be rejected and we should ask MOP (GOI) to convey a meeting with NCCOEEE to discuss with it.  Since constituents of NCCOEEE are not serious about the situation and struggle and unless state-wise movement is not strengthened, our national movement cannot be strengthened.   The power situation in most of the states such as Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh etc., is worse after implementation of new power policy.  We must think about a nationwide strike in power sector to tide over the situation.  Interventions were made by Coms. S.S. Subramaniam, A.S. Sodhi,  Subhash Lamba, V. Mohandas, R. Kumar, Shanti Debnath, Sidhharta Sengupta, K. Pavithran & K.R. Unnithan.

The following decisions were taken:

i)    Dharnas, Campaigns and state level conventions shall be held to make the general atmosphere conducive to intensify  struggle and facilitate inputs for a successful national convention.
ii)    National convention shall be held with the agenda of a national strike.

A successful Parliament March was held on 14th March’07 with participation of 10,000 or more and the meeting at Jantar Mantar was addressed by EEFI Leaders.  Our  demonstration before parliament were also greeted by Com. Chakradhar Pd. Singh, General Secretary, All India Federation of electricity Employees and Shri. Akhtar Hussain, General Secretary, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyut  Mazdoor Sangh.

We requested and demanded from the ministry of Power (GOI) to convene immediately a meeting with NCCOEEE to discuss the impacts of restructuring of SEBs and Electricity Act, 2003 since the study entrusted to  IIPA “On impact of restructuring of SEBs” by MOP (GOI),which has been submitted on 29th January’07. Otherwise we will be left with no option except national strike.

The meeting closed at 6.00 PM.
