The 13th State Conference of Central Organization of Tamilnadu Electricity Employees was held on 2009 September 11, 12, and 13 at Tanjore. A propaganda week was performed in the month of the August 2009 all over Tamilnadu to high light the aims of conference among the public and the Electricity employees. While performing the Propaganda meetings, all over Tamilnadu nearly 200 centers, were selected and in the centre 13 flags have been hoisted, marking the 13th state conference. Gate meeting were also Conducted massively in the selected Centre. In connection to our conference we arranged three propaganda jadhas in three corner of Tamilnadu, One from Chennai and the other two from Kanyakumari and Coimbatore, the propaganda jadhas have programmed covering the entire Tamilnadu and reached the Conference venue before the commencement of the Conference. Warm, reception was given to the jadhas, The Jadhas propagated the anti people and the anti worker polices of the Central and State Government, Necessary amendments in the electricity act 2003, which affect the people, the necessity of the electricity sector should continue as public sector. Early wage Revision settlement to the TNEB employees which is already due from 1.12.2006, Regularization of 20,000 Contact workers working in the Tamilnadu Electricity Board, against the existing vacancies of Helper, allowing of noon meal employees Scale to the part time employees in the TNEB. The issue Highlighted in the propaganda jahas were responded and welcomed by the employees and the Public. Before Commencement of the Conference the Propaganda jadhas were received grand manner in the conference venue by the two district Secretary of CITU and one Deputy General Secretary of COTEE. The Conference Flag was hoisted by Com. S. Pacharathanam President of COTEE. The Conference was inaugurated by president of CITU Tamilnadu State Committee. Com. A.K. Padmanaban in is inaugural address he is highlighted the points that is all over India agricultural and Industries was mostly affected, ensuring of Education and Sanitation is a questionable one, the inadequacies of power after 62 years of Independence India. The liberalization polices adopted by the Central Government will lead privatization of Electricity Sector. In Delhi and Maharastra, reduces of Strength of left front in the parliament will lead to the privatization of Public Sector. After the presidential Address the general Secretary and treasurer of the Organization has submitted the works report and accounts. 392 delegates have participated in the Conference. Out of the 392 delegates 26 were Women delegates. 62 delegates were participated in the discussion of the General Secretary’s report. Besides these Conference, on the Second day a open place special convention was conducted under the president ship of com S. Pancharathanam. The Subject to the convention was uninterrupted and quality supply to the public. The eminent person Com. T.K.Rangarajan M.P., and Com. G. Venkatesan was addressed in the convention. Huge gatherings were participated in the convention. More over Com. K.O. Habeeb President of the EEFI was participated in the Conference and valuable deliberation was given remembering olden day’s events. In the Conference Com. K. Vijayan has been elected as president, Com. S.S. Subramanian as Gen, Secretary, and Com. D.Govindaraj as Treasurer Com.A.K. Padmanaban as Vice President, P. Kannan, M. Venkatesan and E. Antony as Deputy Gen. Secretary and 27 persons were elected as Office Bearers. In the Conference the following important decision were taken 1. One day Propaganda demonstration will be held on 22.9.2009 on the following Issues. a) To withdrawn the attempt of unbundling of TNEB on the basis of Electricity acts 2003. b) Speedy action to finalize the wage revision demands which is due to TNEB employees from 1.12.2006. c) Wage revision should be given without imposing any work load. d) Star health insurance Scheme (Private) which was imposed recently should be withdrawn and old Medical Aid Scheme should implemented with due modification. e) The Employees Promotion, Transfer, postings external recruitment should be done as for the guide line already formulated by TNEB. The political ruling party intervention as in the day to day affair should be dispensed here with. f) The identified contact workers should be regularized as helper. The daily wages of contact worker should be raised as Rs. 250/- from Rs. 70/- . The EPF subscription should be deduated as for provision of the act. g) The part time employees should be given to the noon meal scheme employees’ scale of Pay as already ordered by the Board. As for the decision of the Conference the propaganda demonstration was held all over Tamilnadu more than 200 centers. 1. One of the important event in the Conference is the 40 years History of COTEE has been released as a book. And the life History of veteran and beloved leader of Com. JANAKIRAMAN has been released as a book. The Souvenor was also released in the Conference Finally the Conference came to a conclusion with mammoth rally participating more than 8000 employees. and in the end of the rally a public meeting has been addressed by COTEE and CITU leaders.
