Agitations of KSEB Officers Association

Programmes of agitations

  K.S.E.B Officers’ association has expressed its solidarity with the agitating comrades of Punjab State Electricity Board against the move to  unbundle the Board by June 10th . We have arranged a Dharna along with K.S.E.B Workers’ Association, before each Electrical Division Head Quarters of the state on 2nd July 2006. On 7th July 2006, Electrical Circle level, successful Dharnas were also conducted jointly. We have also send fax messages against the unbundling of the board to the Chairman of P.S.E.B, Chief Minister of Punjab and the Power Minister of India.

 A meeting of the office bearers of NCCOEEE has convened on 25th August at BTR bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram and has planned a series of agitations in connection with the national campaign against Electricity Act 2003.

 We have conducted an evening  Dharna at each district head quarters on 12th September. Nearly 4000 workers and officers participated. On 19th September, conducted  a massive Dharna in front of the Government Secretariat at Thiruvananthapuram and there after a state level joint convention at B.T. Bhawan. Com. E. Balanandan has inaugurated the Dharna and convention.  Nearly 2000 workers and officers took part. The convention adopted a resolution to go for a nation wide strike during December, if the government is proceeding   with the implementation of Electricity Act: 2003 without any change agreed upon.  After the proposed National Convention in October, it is planned to conduct various types of campaigns covering all villages of Kerala during November including   observation of a day holding torches, preparatory to the proposed  all India strike during December. We have printed and  circulated the leaflets prepared by Com. E. Balanandan about Electricity Act, 2003 among the representatives of the local bodies and MLAs, M.P.’s and political and trade union leaders in our state.  

Women’s front

On 18th August, the women’s sub committee of our organization has convened a women’s convention at Thiruvananthapuram. 84 women officers from the capital city of Kerala have participated which helped a lot to boost the morale of our women activists. 

Carrier Development

The CDP (Carrier Development Programme) sub committee of our organization, which is intended to provide training for officers of KSEB on subjects relevant in the power industry, has already conducted 6 classes on various subjects viz. Pilferage of Electricity-Issues and challenges, Concept of Office Management & Auditing, Safety , Right to Information and Material accounting. 451 officers have benefited by this training so far. Hydel Projects, Concept to Reality and Enhancing Presentation Skills are two subjects proposed for the succeeding months.       

Power Quiz

 Power Quiz sub committee of the Association is conducting annual quiz competition among post-metric students, which provide an insight to them regarding the problems and prospects of power sector. The programme is conducting in 4 levels. The institution level competition of this year is proposed to be conducted on 26-09-2006, the district level on12 –10 –2006, the regional level on 07-11-2006 and the state level final competition in the last week of November.  

Power sector studies

The C-CAPSS sub committee is scheduled to conduct a colloquium on ‘Alternate Proposal for Power Development in Kerala’ on 2nd October at Thiruvananthapuram.
