Letter From NCCOEEE Against privatization of Anapara -C
REF/NCCOEEE/005/2005 05.07.05
To The Chief Minister, Govt. of U.P., Lucknow Respected Sir, Sub: Against privatization of Anapara -C
We are concerned and deeply disturbed at the coercive manner in which every instrument and force including the use of police is being used to ensure that Anpara C is handed over to a private investor. The Anpara C is not an independent power unit but merely an extension of the existing power station. Therefore any independent investor being brought in would create several problems. The auxiliaries for ‘B’ were built for providing support to “C” Unit. In fact the recent observation of the U.P. regulatory Commission makes it clear that the Govt. of U.P. has not even taken this issue into consideration in the RFP. The motives of the Govt. of U.P, are therefore suspect. The introduction of an independent investor within the same compound introduces different styles of management including labour issues. Our experience is that such arrangements are counter productive and create serious problems. We therefore believe that the same agency that is owning the ‘A’ and ‘B’ unit should also invest in ‘C’. We are determined to oppose privatization of Anpara –C. We wish to make it abundantly clear we shall not be silent spectators to the government using draconian and forceful methods to silence opposition. The National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) will be forced to launch a nationwide agitation if the Govt. of U.P forces us.
Thanking you, Yours faithfully, Sd/- NCCOEEE CC: Shri P.M. Sayeed, Union Power Minister, New Delhi.
