April 2003 - June 2003VOL. 4 NO.2 THE IRAQ WAR AND AFTER The U.S. Imperialists with the British went to war against Iraq ignoring the worldwide opposition including that of United Nations. They have captured Iraq within three weeks using their super military power, Cluster bombs, Bunker busters and fuel air explosives etc. They have completely destroyed Bagdad the ancient city and put to death thousands of Iraqi citizens and inflicting injury to many thousands. The basic premise that Saddam Hussain was in the possession of large quantity of weapons of mass destruction and he will not voluntarily agree to disarm. Therefore it is necessary to take control of Iraq quickly in order to save the world from disaster. But however the British and American forces during the war and after could not find any arms of mass destruction in Iraq. Still they are claiming that they are searching for it though many months have passed. Meanwhile surprisingly the United Nations have passed a resolution accepting U.S. control over Iraq and thus given recognition for the illegal occupation of Iraq by U.S. and its allies. Those countries who were vehemently opposed U.S attack against Iraq did not register their voice of protest against this resolution. The U.S. administration has now installed a puppet regime in Iraq under their control. The people of Iraq are raising their protest in many ways against the occupation forces, killing many of them in several clashes which is on the increase. The peoples’ opposition is growing in Britain and U.S. against their Governments for attacking Iraq with out any proof. The stories being told by the Govt. that they will succeed in finding out arms of mass destruction in Iraq is not convincing anybody and the opposition is gathering strength. How ever this is the first time the imperialists are searching for the reason for going to war after the war is over. The U.S. is trying to rope in other countries for sending their armed forces to Iraq under the guise of "peacekeeping" to strengthen their occupation of Iraq. India too is invited for sending troops to work under U.S. control. It seems that the B.J.P. Govt. is ‘willing’ to comply with the U.S. request in spite of the strong opposition in the country. It is noteworthy that the Govt. of India did not come out strongly against the U.S. war of aggression but was sitting at the fence. Therefore the danger of India giving up its anti imperialist tradition and supporting imperialist plunder by sending troops is almost become a possibility unless the peoples’ opposition is developed and strengthened to force the Govt. not to fall in line with U.S. demand.
