NO.3
A National action plan to
conserve energy worth 25,000 MW of power for the next five years by reducing 30%
energy consumption was unveiled by the Prime Minister, asking ministries
departments, PSUs to take steps to achieving this goal in their annual reports.
Inaugurating an international energy conference on strategies for energy
conservations, he said that as a first step President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam had
agreed to have an energy audit of Rashtrapathi Bhawan and hope for energy saving
of 20% over the next five years. He said if the centre and the state
governments provide the lead, the private sector, and even household will
follow, not least because energy conservation makes an economic sense. |
