OBITUARY REFERENCES

 Com. M. Hanumantha Rao  (1917-2001) 

The veteran Communist leader, Comrade Hanumantha Rao, breath his last at Vijayawada on 18 June,2001 at the age of 84. He is acquainted with the Communist and working class movement from 1937 onwards. Through his life-long struggle for democratic and progressive movement, Com. Hanumantha Rao became an exemplary no parallel can be cited in Andhra Pradesh other than Com. P. Sundarayya.

Com. Hanumantha Rao has gone through the vicissitude of arms struggle during the Talanga period and in the political front, he was always standing for a revolutionary lufe and brought him to the CPI(M). He was one of the best editors of Telegu progressive daily papers and he is a theorist and written many books concerning the peasant movement as well as on Marxist theories.

As a member of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly and Rajyasabha, Com. Hanumantha Rao has shown his own skill. Above all, he was a model Communist trating all those working together with him with love and regard. His loss is an irreparable loss to the Communist movement, and especially to the working class movement not only in Andhra Pradesh, but in India as a whole.

The Voice of Electricity Workers mourns the death of Com. M. Hanumantha Rao and conveys its condolences to the bereaved family.

 Com. Sailen Dasgupta         (1920-2001)

 Com. Sailen Dasgupta breath his last at a hospital in Mumbai on July 10, 2001. He was 81. Com. Sailen Dasgupta was one of the tallest leaders of the Communist Movement. He was leading the West Bengal CPI(M) in developing the Communist party and keeping the Left Front which was heading the government for more than two decades. Com. Sailen Dasgupta have exhibited his exemplary sill in keeping the Left Parties together and also organizing uncompromised fight against reactionary ideologues and counter revolutionary forces. His loss came at a time when his presence was very much necessary.

We, the Voice of Electricity Workers, mourn his death and send our condolences to the bereaved family.

 Com. Niren Ghosh    1915-2001

 Com. Niren Ghosh was a veteran trade union leader and one of the best parliamentarians who fought for the cause of the Left democratic movement and especially the working class in the Parliament while he was a member. He is one of the organizers of the trade union movement in West Bengal and the founding member of the CITU too. He was President of the CITU West Bengal state committee from its inception until his death. He breath his last on 1st of July 2001 at the age of 87. Just on the day of his death too, he was attending his duties. The loss of such an exemplary leader for the West Bengal movement cannot be bridges in the near future.

We, the Voice of Electricity Workers mourn the death of Com. Niren Ghosh and send our condolences to the state committee of the CPI(M) and state committee of the CITU in West Bengal.
