Voice of Electricity Workers ALL INDIA CONVENTION OF ELECTRICITY EMPLOYEES AND ENGINEERS UNDER THE BANNER OF NCCOEEE 7th JULY, 2001 AT NEW DELHI Historic Convention of power men in the Electricity Ministry.
The Electricity Employees and
Engineers in Indian Power Sector under the banner of National Coordination
Committee of Electricity Employees & Engineeers was held on 7th July
2001 at Gandhi Memorial Auditorium, Pyarelal Bhawan, B.S.Z Marg New Delhi. Power
men from all over the country participated the Central Power Sector was
represented by Er. Rakesh Pandey Secy. (Pub & PR), NTPC Executive Federation of
India and Com. Debasish Maitra, Genrl. Secy. Power Transmission Employees and
workers Union. Resolution1. This convention takes notice of the anticipated decision of the Central Trade Unions to call for an All India strike in the near future. 2. We shall be associated with and support the strike in the form of tool down and pen down strike. 3. We demand that the Government of India recognize the opposition to the reform and reverse the direction of economic policies. 4. We demand that the uneconomic power sector polices that lead to high cost power which would damage national capability in all sections particularly agriculture and industry should be stopped. This implies that the following policies be reversed:
a)
Unbundling of State Electricity Boards. A. Further implies:- a) Restoring the State Electricity Boards where they have been unbundled. b) Increasing State funding of power to ensure a 7% to 9% rate of growth of the power sector. 5. We demand that the Government of India abandon the proposal to introduce the Electricity Bill in the forthcoming monsoon session of the Parliament. Government of India should continue to fund electricity sector in the States as has been done in the last five decades since independence. 6. We demand that the Government discuss with the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers. 7. In case the Government of India does not take this resolution seriously the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers will launch a campaign which would finally end up in a total strike.
The resolution was adopted unanimously. ResolutionThe National Convention of Electricity Employees and Engineers were happy to note that All Central Trade Unions namely INTUC, AITUC, B.M.S, CITU, H.M.S., H.M.K.P., etc. and almost all Independent Federations joined together and announced a programme of agitation in the fight against New Economic policy. Er. K.C Naikwad presented the resolution before the delegates, which was seconded by Com. H.N. Mishra.
As a part of above agitation it is proposed to conduct a demonstration before the Parliament on 24th July 2001,the Electricity Employees under the banner of the National Co-ordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers’(NCCOEEE) to coordinate with the agitation of Central Trade Unions to fight against New Economic policy. The Convention closed at 3.00 pm. |
