NO.4-5 The NCCOEEE met at Bangalore came to the understanding that the protest against Electricity Bill-2001 in the form of a token strike, as per the other decision a meeting of the representatives of the trade unions in power sector was convened on 26.2.2003 in AITUC office, 24, Canning Lane, New Delhi. Com. E. Balanandan presided over the meeting. The participants were Coms. A.B. Bardhan, B.S. Meel, S. Rana, A.D. Golandaz, Ranjith Singh, A.S. Sodhi, K.C. Bhardwaj, M.L. Chokse, C.L. Pathak, A.N. Rajan, A.K. Sharma, R.P. Gosain, Mohan Sharma, Chakradhar Pd. Singh, Kapil Deo Yadav, Vishanath Pal Singh, Ummeda Ram Choudhury, S.S. Subramanian, K. Ravi Chnadran and S.P. Vij. After detailed deliberations it was resolved that a token strike will be held by the electricity workers and employees one day earlier the day the Electricity Bill – 2001 is discussed in the Parliament. Since the exact date of discussion on the bill normally cannot be predicted before a week, therefore following decisions were taken for strike preparations: 1. The likely date of discussion on Electricity Bill-2001 in Parliament will be around somewhere in the third week of April’03. Therefore strike preparations are to be carried out to go on strike any day in the third week of April presuming that the exact date will be known by that time, which will be intimated at short notice. 2. Com. B.S. Meel was authorized to prepare a note of analysis on the recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on energy. 3. Com. Meel will make efforts to obtain the changes that are approved by the Cabinet, for the Bill.
