STATE GOVERNMENT BLOCKING MSEB EFFORTS TO COLLECT REVENUE
The cash starved Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) has accused the
state government of obstructing its attempts to collect revenue. Senior MSEB
officials are believed to have indicated this at a meeting of the constituents
of the ruling Democratic Front on Monday.
MSEB officials are believed to have expressed concern over the government's
directive asking it to go slow on cutting off connections of willful defaulters.
It has also expressed its resentment at the state government's decision to
oppose MSEB's tariff hike proposals before the Maharashtra Electricity
Regulatory Commission (MERC).
